Lead an event
your idea. your event. we back you up*
You don’t need a team, a budget, or permission. You need an idea, we’ll help you with the rest.
The idea
you're in the lead — we handle the rest
Any woman with an idea for an event can bring it to Asterisco*: a sport you want to introduce, a topic you want to raise, an experience you want to create.
It’s a co-creation process. We help you find partners, a venue and the practical pieces you need. You take care of the content, the promotion and the delivery. But you’re the one deciding, organising and owning the outcome.
For many of the women who’ve done it, this was their first real experience of leadership and responsibility.
How it works
four steps, start to finish
you bring the idea
Tell us what you'd like to do and roughly where. It can be one sentence. It does not need to be finished, polished or realistic yet.
we work it out together
We sit down with you and turn it into a plan: what's needed, what's possible, what to cut. We find the venue, the partners and the equipment.
you lead it
On the day, it's yours. You run the session, welcome people and set the tone. We're there beside you, not in front of you.
it keeps going
The group stays in touch, and often keeps meeting on its own. Several one-off events have turned into ongoing series exactly this way.
It has already worked
one workshop became a series of rides
In Turin, a woman working with bike repair shared her knowledge to the community. She wanted others to feel confident enough to head out on long rides, even alone.
Laura and Elena co-created this bike-workship together. Finding the space, solving logistics, and got the word out together. What started as one afternoon of fixing punctures turned into an ongoing series of group rides that’s still going – the Panda rides.
Elena had never led an event before.
Questions
the things people ask first
No. You need to know one thing well enough to share it, and “well enough” is a much lower bar than you think. The women who’ve led our events weren’t coaches or professional athletes. One knew how to fix a bike. One knew about nutrition. That was enough.
That is completely fine! Most of the women who’ve led an Asterisco* event had never done it before either. We do this together, precisely so that a lack of experience isn’t what stops you.
No. Some of our best events pair movement with a conversation about something else entirely — food and the body, money and independence, the gender gap in the outdoors. If there’s a topic you want to raise, we can build an activity around it.
Tell us anyway. We’re active in Porto, Turin, Trondheim and Cagliari, and new local communities are forming all the time, often because one woman got in touch with an idea. Yours could be the reason we’re somewhere new.
Less than you’d expect. Realistically: a couple of conversations with us, some time preparing your part, and the day itself. We shape the scale around what you can actually give.
No. You don’t fund the event and you don’t take on financial risk. We work with venues, clubs and partners to keep costs low or covered. Asterisco can fund some parts, and women coming to the events might pay some. For example in our indoor climbing events, women paid a lower entry-fee and rental of climbing shoes.
Send it. We’ve never had someone tell us an idea we thought was too small. The point of the umbrella is that you don’t have to have it all worked out — that’s the part we do together.

Propose an event
tell us your idea*
It doesn’t need to be finished. One sentence is a fine place to start, we’ll take it from there together.
We read everything that comes in and reply personally.
not ready to lead yet*
That’s completely fine. Come to an event first, see how it feels, and decide later. Most of the women who now lead started exactly there.
